1) Define “Modern.” 

 

 

2) What role did the European Renaissance play in the development of the early Modern period? Is “modern” a global concept today, or is it only relevant to the European experience?




3)In what ways did non-European peoples contribute to the development of the modern European identity?

 

4) What was the Enlightenment? Do Enlightenment ideals still affect western society today or was this just a specific time period in European history?

 

 

5) In what ways do the early lives of our SND Foundresses reflect the tensions alive within European society during the Enlightenment and French Revolutionary periods?
